Saman Liyanage

Born in 1974,Galle, Sri Lanka

It was my family surroundings which prompted and promoted me to be an artist. Several of my family members were engaging in several fields in visual and performance art. I would spend hours as a youth watching them at their craft, therefore at an early age I was influenced by them to develop my own style.I graduated from Vibhavi Academy of Fine Arts.

I like to work with graphite and paints,not only to paint on canvas, but also to draw.I pull from my emotions to create the visual display.My effort has not been to focus on a single idea but to give free expression to powerful feeling rising up within me in my imaginative consciousness. Throbbing black and white lines move hither and thither entwining each other to convey my thoughts on canvas.

Besides painting and drawing, I am also a glass and book cover designer
